Periostin deficiency attenuates lipopolysaccharide‐ and obesity‐induced adipose tissue fibrosis

Periostin (POSTN) is a type of matricellular protein, but its functions in adipose fibrosis remain unclear. Here, we found that POSTN expression significantly increased mouse tissue after treatment with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or high‐fat diet (HFD) and progenitor cells are the main source POSTN. In our model fibrosis, deletion protected mice from probably through reducing accumulation macrophages promoting adipocyte differentiation cells. Taken together, study demonstrates deficiency attenuates improves insulin resistance, providing new insights into diagnosis II diabetes by targeting fibrosis.
